Statement from the International Luxemburgist Network to All Worker
Stop The Murderous Capitalist War on Workers—From Gaza to Iran to the US!
Take Back What The Billionaires Have Stolen! Global Strike for Our Lives and Freedom!
In the past week, murderous capitalist governments have massively escalated their ongoing global war on workers. Applying to their own workers the same homicidal tactics that Israel has unleashed on Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, the Iranian government has slaughtered thousands or tens of thousands of revolutionary demonstrators. While denouncing the Iranian government, Donald Trump has turned that same lethality on protestors here, applauding the murder by ICE agent Jonathan Ross of protestor Renee Nicole Good. Trump and his emulators world-wide are attempting to enforce their ever-growing thefts of wealth with raw terror, revealing the dying capitalist system for what it is today—a machine that can only produce wealth for the billionaires by destroying the lives of the billions.
But the billionaire’s war is being met with the growing unity of the working class. In Iran the movement for Women, Life, Freedom has become a massive and determined revolutionary struggle to overthrow the Islamic regime. This movement reflects a struggle from below, grounded in material conditions and collective organizing. It is not a movement merely against the regime of the larcenous mullah-capitalists, but clearly for a society of democracy and social equality, as defined in the Charter of 12 Minimum Demands.
The core of the Charter’s economic demands is to take back from the ruling religio-capitalists the wealth they have stolen and use it for the benefit of the population in basic needs, health, education and housing. These are the demands that apply to our struggle world-wide.
We stand in solidarity with workers on strike, with women asserting control over their lives, with students, nurses, teachers, retirees, and with the families of those who have been killed, imprisoned, or persecuted. We support the release of all political prisoners, the protection of the right to strike, protest, and organize, and the pursuit of a society based on freedom, equality, and human dignity.
We denounce the slaughter of civilians and protestors whether by the IDF, the Iranian Guards, or by ICE. We strongly condemn any propaganda, justification, or support for military intervention by foreign governments, including the governments of the United States and Israel, who are the chief architects of the same murderous tactics used by the Iranian government.
In this critical moment, we support the formation of democratically-organized city-wide, regional and national strike committees or workers councils that can unify the movement across the entire class and bring into being the organizational forms that can assume power and the direction of society, preventing the hijacking of the movement by any capitalist intrigue.
The strength of the working class is in global unity, in our ability to stop the wheels of the capitalist global machine. We must now exercise that power. We join in the growing calls for a global strike against the capitalists’ war. The Italian USB union has called for such a strike on Feb.6 . Unions and workers groups have called for a General Strike in Minnesota Jan.23 Such strikes must not be seen as unique events, but part of an unlimited, ever-growing mass-strike movement to break the power of the billionaires and to dismantle their homicidal system.
We call on workers in unions, socialist organizations, civil rights, immigrant rights and women’s organizations to come together to democratically plan such escalating strike actions and to decide the demands of the movement.
We propose that, at a minimum, these demands include:
Bring to justice the murderers and all who order the murders of working people world-wide.
Abolish forever the murder machines—the Israel Defense Force, the Iranian Guards, and ICE in the US, among others.
As a step towards this goal, Stop All Arms to Israel.
Defend the equal rights of all workers everywhere, including the right to freely decide where they live.
Take back what billionaires have stolen and use that wealth to establish free education, free healthcare, free transportation and free housing for all.
Let’s Strike for our Freedom, Strike for Our Lives, Strike Globally!
